Forest Legacy Committee
Forest Legacy Committee encourages the protection of privately owned forest lands through conservation easements and/or land purchases
The Forest Legacy Committee assists in implementing the Forest Legacy Program.
This mission is achieved in part by:
- Advising the Division of Forests & Lands to help achieve state Forest Legacy Program objectives
- Providing input and advice for development and updates to the Forest Legacy Program-related section of the New Hampshire Forest Action Plan.
- Reviewing and recommending project proposals at the state level.
- Reviewing significant changes to projects that occur before the project closes, and providing recommendations on whether the project should proceed.
At the federal level, the USDA Forest Legacy Program was established in 1990 as an amendment to the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978.
